Engine bay teardown Pt1

Today… was hot… for my fat ass at least, 84 degrees and upper lower 70’s for humidity. Today I began the engine bay tear down by pulling the hood off the car… not easy by yourself but i managed it without destroying anything.

Time to start clearing out the engine bay. First thing i did was just start going for the easy to reach stuff, Throttle body, charge tubes… reminder to self I need to order a new FIAV gasket since the one that was already on the car was worn out. I only figured this out because i was trying to swap over the throttle position switch to my new s90 throttle body.

More and more removal

This is where I have to talk about what the previous owner did and the major reason I bought a welder… well… pictures are 1000 words so here… you be the judge.

Goals were to hopefully sell the turbo that is on the car, but sadly the compressor wheel is pretty chewed up. Is what it is.. and hopefully I can sell it as a core or something.

the whole goal today was to get the car all the way down to at least where nothing would be holding be back from pulling the motor out except for axles and motor mounts. Goal achieved. Hopefully tomorrow or next weekend i’ll get around to pulling those out and after that its time to start stripping down the rest of every thing to prep for engine bay shaving and paint.
